After he has his heart broken, a young Chicago investment banker, Matthew (Hartnett), returns from two years away from the city as he tried to recover from the experience, settling again in the Wicker Park neighborhood; he's even engaged to a different woman now.
Matthew's world gets thrown for a loop, however, when he becomes obsessed with a woman he sees in a cafe, believing her to be his long-lost love, to the extent that he puts his engagement on hold, as his search for the girl soon sends him down a dangerous path.
