At the end of May, Paul Newman pulled out of plans to direct a play for his Connecticut theater company citing health reasons.
No specifics were given by his publicist, which has only led to plenty of reports of what is ailing the Oscar-winning actor. The Daily Star reports that Newman is under the care of an oncologist at New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for lung cancer.
The National Enquirer also reported that Newman is suffering from cancer. "We have known he is seriously ill for several weeks but his loved ones are being very protective and saying very little," said an unnamed friend of the actor.
Neither the Enquirer or the Star have been able to get a comment out of Newman's publicist or Sloan-Kettering.
These stories follow an item that appeared in the New York Post back in March that quoted a source who had seen Newman making several visits to the office of an oncologist on New York's Upper East Side.
